Is all it takes
To break a broken heart
Faded memories
Heartstrings cling to
But no one shares
Expectations shot
Left wounded
While hope flees
A cracked smile
Mistaken for happiness
Under anguished eyes
A perfect mask
Covers the dead soul
Aches with every breath
Pained mind
Wakens deep in night
Comfort sought for lost
One only the deaf hear
And blind see
A soul relieved
With just one shot
